Adani Ports — Yard Management System

The Problem

Port yard supervisors at Adani Ports were managing container slots manually — physically walking the yard, noting available spaces on paper, and assigning locations by memory. With hundreds of containers moving daily, this was error-prone, slow, and physically demanding.

The Solution

I designed and built a Yard Management System that fully automates slot assignment and yard visibility:

• Smart slot allocation algorithm — assigns incoming containers to optimal spaces based on container type, size, and yard capacity rules
• Real-time yard dashboard — supervisors see the entire yard mapped digitally; no more ground-level checks
• Gate-in / Gate-out automation — system tracks exact container location at all times and auto-generates job orders for yard staff
• Container traceability — full history of every container movement

Impact

Yard supervisors now manage full port operations from their cabin. Manual ground walks reduced dramatically. Job orders generated automatically, reducing coordination overhead.
